*  Community Shows are briefer performances we bring to those who may not be able to come to the public shows - at hospitals, nursing homes, detention centers, etc.

That previous Spring of 2004, we did:

RainFest 2004 in beautiful Forks, Washington

The theme of 2004's event was "Hooked on Art"

 

Friday, April 16th

2-5pm
The kickoff for the Quileute Tribe's cultural museum was held at the A-Ka-Lat Center in LaPush.

There was both history and entertainment available, including:

  • a person who dressed in period clothing and gave a presentation on the history of Mora (Rialto Beach early settlement area, down by LaPush)
  • the Quileute Tribe dancers and drummers

5-7pm
A combined Chautauqua/Quileute/public potluck took place in LaPush.

 

Saturday, April 17

9am-11am
Free educational Workshops at the Forks Middle School.

Workshops covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • Juggling
  • Quilt making
  • Mask making
  • Trash Fashion
  • Song Swap with Faith Petric
  • Magic with Joey Pipia
  • Samba Drumming and Dance
  • Umbrella Making
  • Can you cancan (?)

Noon
A PARADE !!!!
Through the center of town

NOTC's Vaudeville Variety Show at the Forks High School Commons, which featured:

  • Faith Petric, Folk singing with
  • Fyodor Karamazov, The unusual object manipulations of
  • Kevin Murphy, The amusing and profound poetry of
  • Joey Pipia, The mirthful magic of
  • Pipia Sisters, The movements and/or voices of the lovely and talented
  • Christian Swenson, "Human Jazz" with
  • Citizen's Band, The provocative sounds of
  • David Kelly, The extraordinary juggling of
  • Trash Fashion, An awe-inspiring extravaganza of
  • Royal Famille du Caniveaux, The versatility and wit of vaudeville's
  • The never-famous Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra, With accompaniment and wise cracks from

Yeeee-Haaaaaaw!

ERB Memorial Union (EMU)
Ballroom,

on the campus of the
University of Oregon,

in
Eugene, Oregon,
at
13th & University.

7:00 PM was the fantastic showtime.

  • The Flying Karamazov Brothers (5 of them this time, performing for at least 30 minutes, it was said)
  • Joey Pipia - Magician & Funny Man
  • Faith Petric - Timeless Folk Songs
  • Amanda - Graceful Aerialist
  • Jim Page - Folk Artist with Teeth
  • Godfrey Daniels - Outré Clownoid
  • Ben Farrell & Paul Safar - Piano Duet
  • Mildred Hodiddle - Exotic Aunt
  • Amazing A - Graceful Gymnastics
  • Tim Furst - Visually Exciting Stimuli
  • Paul Safar and Nancy Verdow - Folk Duo
  • Trash Fashion - Recycled Razzle Dazzle
  • Pipia Sisters - Dance, or Song, or who knows what?...anyway, it was good
  • Plus!!! The (all-purpose) Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra - and their never-ending repertory of music and heckling. Marching Chamber Band/Orchestras just don't get any better than this and they wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Did Amanda give up aerial activities to save the ozone layer?

(No)

Could Mildred Hodiddle keep her undies covered?

(No)

Howl this show be over before midnight? ...one might have wondered...

(No)
(Well, Yes, it was, actually, but we try to be consistent)
